If you are wondering which actress we are talking about, then the actress in discussion is Pooja Batra. She does not belong to a filmy background. Her father, Ravi Batra, was a colonel in the Indian Army, whereas her mother was a contestant in the 1971 Miss India pageant.
Pooja also started her career as a model and represented India in Miss International after winning the Miss India beauty pageant in 1993. The pageant became a gateway for Pooja to showcase her talent in Bollywood.
In 1995, Pooja made her debut with the Tamil film Aasai. Though the movie received good reviews, Pooja’s role was merely a cameo, which did not benefit her much. Pooja’s Bollywood debut came in 1997 with the film Virasat, which featured Tabu and Anil Kapoor. Batra’s performance was hailed by the audience, and she received positive reviews for her role.
Over the years, Pooja worked with actors such as Govinda, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, and Suniel Shetty. Some of her hit films include Haseena Maan Jayegi, Talaash, and Nayak. Just as Pooja was reaching the heights of success, she fell in love and decided to get married. This was the time when she left Bollywood and settled in the US.
However, after nine years of marriage, the couple decided to part ways in 2011. Media reports claimed that the actress received offers from Hollywood, but it was her husband who denied her the opportunity and did not let her pursue it.
After the divorce, Pooja came back to India and tried her luck in Bollywood. However, she never regained the fame she once had.
