Making an entry into Bollywood alongside a legend like Rishi Kapoor is a major milestone. Actress Shoma Anand began her career in 1976, where she starred alongside Rishi Kapoor in Pramod Chakrborty’s romantic-crime movie Barood. Right after her debut, Shoma successfully established her identity in the industry.
Although she didn’t struggle to find work after her debut, Shoma often landed supporting roles rather than lead parts. Some of the notable movies where she played significant characters include Ghar Ek Mandir, Pativrata, Ghar Dwaar, Pyaar Ka Mandir, and Bade Ghar Ki Beti, among others. One of her most popular characters Anjali in Hungama where she essayed the role of Paresh Rawal’s wife gained immense appreciation. Shoma also appeared in every other movie alongside Raj Kiran during 80s and 90s, and was always remarkable in acting.
In the 90s, Shoma’s career was at peak, with lead roles in numerous films. However, during this time, actor Tariq Shah entered her life. Shoma fell in love with Tariq, and they got married in 1997.
According to reports, Shoma was compelled to leave the industry due to lack of family support after marriage. Hence, this became the reason for her downfall in the industry. After few years, Shoma started working in TV serials and gained a distinct name on the small-screen with shows like Bhabhi, Hum Paanch and Shararat.
