Manchester United interest in £80m Jack Grealish ‘cools’ as Old Trafford club ‘work hard to find solution’ for main transfer target Jadon Sancho

  • Manchester United set to make Jadon Sancho their primary transfer target
  • Aston Villa’s Premier League survival means interest in Jack Grealish has cooled
  • United though are struggling to meet a fee for Sancho with Borussia Dortmund
  • German club have given United a deadline of August 10 to complete a deal

Manchester United have reportedly cooled their interest in signing Jack Grealish from Aston Villa following their final day Premier League survival.

Villa drew 1-1 on Sunday at West Ham United to retain their place in the top flight and in doing so it has boosted their hopes of keeping their star midfielder.

Staying up means Villa are now likely to command a higher transfer fee of around £80million for Grealish, and it has led to United turning their summer transfer window attention towards Jadon Sancho according to Sky Sports.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already had concerns over where Grealish would fit in his midfield following the exciting partnership that has built up between Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.

However the United boss is keen to add strength to his attacking flanks and that means a likely pursuit for Sancho, although a deal with his club side Borussia Dortmund is still some way off.

The German giants are still demanding £110million for the England international.

However, United are unlikely to match the asking price given the financial hit taken by many clubs during the Covid-19 crisis.

Instead, United are set to put more focus on landing main transfer target Jadon Sancho

Although they have yet to make a bid they are the only club in talks with Dortmund over a potential transfer.

Hopes of landing Sancho improved after securing qualification for the Champions League on Sunday, but the German side are under no pressure to sell given his contract runs until 2022.

The German club are keen to draw a deadline with United on August 10 when the club resumes pre-season training, and a potential sale gives them enough time to find a replacement.

If United’s bid to land Sancho falls through, they could turn their attention to Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman in a loan swoop.
