Brett Yancey accompanied his daughter during her homecoming queen event, despite having limited energy due to stage four cancer treatments.

After undergoing treatment for stage four oesophageal cancer for the past six years, Brett Yancey from Alabama, USA, struggled to walk even a few steps. However, this did not stop him from making a 50-yard walk from the visitor’s sideline on the stadium to the other side of the field in a bid to escort his daughter Sara Kate after she was crowned the homecoming queen. Brett and his daughter walking across the football field of Barney Hood Stadium at Southside High School have left many people teary-eyed.

Recently, 17-year-old Sara Kate spoke about his wholesome moment in her Instagram post. While sharing pictures with her dad from the homecoming ceremony, she wrote, “Wow. What a dream! I do not have enough words to express how honored I am! Thank you Southside High School for the most amazing memories and as for the students my heart goes out to all of you, I truly love y’all with all my heart. This place has helped shape me into who I am today. Thank you to this amazing community who has stood by my side throughout this journey. Thank you again Southside High, I love you all! Go Panthers.”

This post has gathered hundreds of likes. Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “Stay proud this came up on my pages! So glad it did! Cancer survivor myself I know what it can do to your body! Praying for him and your family! Don’t take anything behind you and remember to live every day like it’s your last!.” Another remarked, “This is the most beautiful and inspiring story. I pray in the name of Jesus your dad is fully and completely healed and that he may live a long life. Please look into Coseva toxin removal spray. It will really help your dad with cancer.”

While talking to People Magazine about her husband’s decision to walk with her daughter, Carrie Yancey said, “Honestly, I could feel my heart beating out my chest. He was holding my daughter pretty tight, I just kept praying, ‘You can make it, and you can make it.’ Tears just rolled down my face.”

Carrie said that her family had suggested Brett use a golf cart to meet his daughter on the field but he refused and said, “I don’t need a golf cart. I’m going to walk my baby to the opposite sideline.”
