LinkedIn has got you jobs, now it wants to bring you games too
LinkedIn helps people find jobs but the platform is looking at new features to keep people on the platform. Gaming could be its latest effort.
LinkedIn helps people find jobs and it even has a feed where people share their thoughts and posts. But soon, the professional platform could also have games. That’s right, LinkedIn could become a rival to Netflix and Apple in the near future with its in-app games being lined up as per reports.
LinkedIn, which now has more 1 billion users, is working on new games experience, reports TechCrunch. The first three early efforts are games called “Queens”, “Inference” and “Crossclimb.”
A company spokesperson confirmed they are working on gaming, but there is no official launch date yet. “We’re playing with adding puzzle-based games within the LinkedIn experience to unlock a bit of fun, deepen relationships, and hopefully spark the opportunity for conversations,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
App researcher Nima Owji also said that LinkedIn appears to be experimenting with gaming. LinkedIn, however, did not comment if Microsoft is involved in the gaming project at the company.
Microsoft’s gaming business — that includes Xbox and Activision Blizzard — registered $7.1 billion in revenues last quarter. The company completed the acquisition of gaming company Activision Blizzard on in October last year.
It is clear that LinkedIn wants to increase the average spend time on the app and it sees gaming as the ideal avenue to enter and appeal to more users.
