Staying in bed for a bit longer allows us to recognise a pause before the day’s demands rush in. It’s a time when you are too gloriously lazy to reflect. In these minutes, whatever be your seat or position, you are an aristocrat, a bundle of pure senses. This is when you have your brain on auto-clean, as you step back – all the while lying languorously in bed, of course – before you saddle up again.
These are stolen moments. Therefore, the most precious moments. Our bodies awaken at their own pace, stretching and settling into the day ahead. But, till then, you’re catching a few more butterflies, collecting a few more flowers while you lie down, not quite awake, not quite asleep.
