At the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Killers of the Flower Moon, featuring Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio, captivated the audience and garnered a remarkable nine-minute standing ovation during its world premiere.
The film is directed by Martin Scorsese and also features Robert DeNiro and Lily Gladstone in the lead roles.
According to a leading US-based news organisation, Scorsese was joined for the first screening by his frequent collaborators and actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, as well as Gladstone. Gladstone also received some of the loudest cheers and applause during the ovation that followed the 3-hour and 26-minute film screening, which began 40 minutes later than expected inside the Grande Theatre Lumiere.
After the screening, Martin took to the stage and spoke to the audience. He said, “It’s taken its time to come around, but Apple did so great by us, shooting out there … there was lots of grass — I’m a New Yorker, he said. “We also lived in that world with the Osage, we really did, and we really miss it.” He also expressed his gratitude to the Cannes crowd and said, “I don’t think I’ve ever experienced like this.”
