Karmic Accounts – The Economic Times

Karm is the energy we send into the world through thoughts, words and actions. It’s like an arrow that we shoot; it hits the target and then returns to us. The energy on the return will be our destiny – our health, career, relationships and situations that come to us daily.

We often feel that we have always been nice to everyone, so why are things not happening right for us? We start questioning the Law of Karm; it doesn’t seem to be very fair.

The Law of Karm is spiritual, i.e., a law applicable to the soul. A soul is on a journey and the body is the physical costume it wears to perform karma. In every costume, we meet other souls and have karmic connections with them. As time passes, we and them both change the costume, but let us remember it is only a costume – the karmic connection is between souls, and the connection continues.

Suppose we meet a friend today and have a strong argument, and the meeting ends unpleasantly. We meet again after a week, both wearing a different dress. The previous argument will influence the second meeting, so it will not begin on a very nice note. We may not talk nicely to each other.

Next month, we meet again, we may not talk to each other at all. Every meeting carries forward to the next meeting. If one of us now decides to end this conflict and begins a polite conversation, the quality of the meeting will change, and this will then carry forward. This is a continuous cycle of karmic connections and settlements.
