Karan Johar has been open about the impact that negativity on social media has on him, particularly on his chatshow. A recent comment on Instagram seemed to trigger a response from him, prompting Karan to address the dynamics of his family on his Instagram stories.
He initially posted pictures of his latest look for an episode where he hosted Saif Ali Khan and Sharmila Tagore. One comment read, “Bahu laa do maa ko time pass nahi hota hoga.”
Reacting to this, Karan took to his Instagram stories, and wrote, “Of all the crazy trolls, the abuse and judgement I get about my life choices and my way of being, I find comments like these offensive.” He emphasised the importance of daughters-in-law having their own identities, stating that the term bahu carries regressive baggage.
Karan also highlighted his mother’s role in co-parenting his children, Yash and Roohi. He defended her against the notion of needing “time pass”, saying that her life is fulfilled by the love they share. He firmly stated that introducing a “bahu” isn’t an option concerning his relationship status, emphasising that any potential life partner would be on his terms. He concluded by saying, “If I were to have a life partner I would do so to fill my void and not anyone else’s!”
