Filmmaker Karan Johar recently expressed his disappointment with the way he was portrayed on the comedy show Madness Machayenge – India Ko Hasayenge. He also criticised comedian Kettan Singh for portraying him in poor taste. Johar took to Instagram Stories to share his frustration after seeing a promo of the show while watching television with his mother. He described the mimicry of him on the “supposedly respectable channel” as being done in “exceptionally poor taste.” Johar expressed sadness rather than anger, stating that he expects such behaviour from anonymous trolls but not from people within the industry, especially considering his long tenure of over 25 years.
Karan Johar’s note read, “I was sitting and watching television with my mom… and saw a promo of a reality comedy show on a supposedly respectable channel… a comic was mimicking me in exceptionally poor taste… I expect this from trolls and faceless and nameless people but when your own industry can disrespect someone who has been in the business for over 25 years it speaks volumes about the times we live in… this doesn’t even anger me it just makes me sad!” (sic)
