Emergency’s day 1 box office collection stood at Rs 2.35 crore, bringing the total for the first two days to Rs 5.54 crore.

Finally, Kangana Ranaut’s much-awaited film Emergency was released on January 17, 2025. Although the film had a slow start, it is gradually gaining momentum at the box office. Before its release, the film faced several delays but was finally given the green signal for its debut. On day 2 of its release, Kangana’s film earned Rs 3.04 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

Emergency’s day 1 box office collection stood at Rs 2.35 crore, bringing the total for the first two days to Rs 5.54 crore. Reports suggest that the film had an overall occupancy of 13.32 per cent in Hindi language screenings on Saturday.

Compared to Kangana’s solo releases over the past five years, the film’s opening is the highest. Her previous film, Sarvesh Mewara’s 2023 aerial action entertainer Tejas, earned Rs 1.25 crore on its opening day at the domestic box office. Similarly, her 2022 action film Dhaakad, directed by Razneesh Ghai, earned Rs 1.20 crore on day one.

Kangana’s film is a biographical drama based on the late former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The movie has been directed and produced by Kangana herself. Apart from Kangana, the film also features Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Ashok Chhabra, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Vishak Nair, and Satish Kaushik in key roles.

Fans will see Anupam portraying the late politician Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas as the young Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Mahima Choudhary as Pupul Jayakar, and the late Satish Kaushik as Jagjivan Ram. After a prolonged delay, Emergency finally hit cinemas on January 17.
