Kamala Harris Sells Washington D.C. Condo For $1.85 Million

Vice president Kamala Harris sold her Washington D.C. condo for $1.85 million earlier this week, according to a person familiar with the deal. Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff purchased the condo for $1.775 million in October 2017.

The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condo in Washington D.C.’s West End neighborhood sat on the market for about six months. Harris and Emhoff initially listed the 1,730-square foot home in April for $1.995 million. They lowered their asking price to $1.85 million in July, according to the real-estate website Zillow. It is not immediately clear who the buyer is.

The deal appears to be part of a larger liquidation strategy for Harris and Emhoff. In March, the vice president also sold an apartment that she had owned for decades in San Francisco for $860,000. That property went into contract just nine days after it hit the market, selling for well above its $799,000 asking price. Harris had purchased the apartment in 1998 for $299,000.

The Second Couple still have a couple of nice homes, including one that comes courtesy of the government. In Washington D.C., they live in the U.S. Naval Observatory, the customary home for vice presidents. The couple moved there in April, after the property received some renovations. They also own a 3,500-square foot house in Los Angeles, which a county assessment values at $3.2 million.

Forbes estimates that Harris and Emhoff are worth a combined $7 million.
