Naeem Sayyed, better known as Junior Mehmood, passed away at 67 in his Khar, Mumbai home following a battle with stomach cancer. His family confirmed his passing, citing his struggle with the illness. Revealing the tragic news, they expressed their heartfelt condolences.
Junior Mehmood started his career as a child artist in Mohabbat Zindagi Hai (1966) and graced the silver screen in numerous films spanning genres like Naunihal, Caravan, Haathi Mere Saathi, Mera Naam Joker, among others. He also briefly ventured into television with appearances in shows like Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara and Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka. His contributions extended beyond acting as he produced and directed various Marathi movies.
Bestowed the moniker Junior Mehmood by the late comedy legend Mehmood, their collaboration in the 1968 movie Suhaag Raat solidified their bond. Today, Junior Mehmood’s final rites will be held at Santacruz kabrastan. He leaves behind his wife Lata and two sons, leaving an indelible mark on the entertainment industry.
