This year, filmmakers are finally taking a leap of faith and have decided to release their movies on the big screen despite the ongoing pandemic. And the first big film to release this year is Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma starrer Roohi.
Yesterday being Mahashivratri, the makers decided to release the film on the auspicious day being a holiday. This film which falls under Stree (2018) universe – a horror-comedy has opened to mixed reviews. Looks like the audience don’t mind a movie-outing in theatres finally as Roohi opens to decent numbers. The film has minted â¹3.06cr nett (India) for its day one collection. Now this figure is a great start at the box-office, considering the pandemic is still on.
Janhvi Kapoor adding the thrills and Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma adding their humour has worked in the movie’s favour. Considering Friday and a weekend ahead, the makers can surely expect decent numbers flowing in. Roohi has taken a big step to start this movie-marathon of releases in theatres and the first day collections gives a sign that footfalls in cinema halls can be expected slowly and gradually to increase. Lets hope that this is a good trend for our movie business.
