isro jobs: You can help Isro plan next space mission. Here are details

After successful Chandrayaan landing mission, Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is planning future robotic exploration missions to the Moon and beyond. In order to foster innovation and engage the youth, Isro is inviting them to submit their ideas and designs for robotic rovers, and will be organizing a ‘space challenge’ to select the best proposals.

The U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Isro, has announced new initiative to engage the youth in shaping the future of space exploration. Isro has invited youth of India to participate in the space robotics challenge. The objective is to provide development opportunities in space robotics and harness the creative thinking of the nation’s youth for Isro’s interplanetary missions. The challenge, named ‘Isro Robotics Challenge-URSC 2024’, will give students a chance to showcase their skills in space robotics by building robots that can perform tasks inspired by real-life challenges faced by space robotics.

Isro is specifically looking for innovative designs of wheeled or legged rovers, complete with hardware and software development. The solutions provided by the students in this challenge have a chance of being incorporated into Isro’s future interplanetary robotics missions.

The objectives of the challenge are to create a standardized platform for exploring space robotics, deepen the understanding of space robotics and its applications among students, and co-develop future technologies needed in this field. The final on-site competition, where the required tasks will be performed, is scheduled to take place at the URSC campus in Bengaluru in August 2024.
