iOS 18 is available with the new iPhone 16 Pro models and could be causing this issue
iOS 18 update is available for the latest iPhone 16 Pro models and most users feel it could be the reason for the battery issue.
iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max users are seeing their idle battery drain happen much faster than the older models. Many of them have raised their complaints on social forums this week, and most are feeling the blame lies on the new iOS 18 update for making it worse. Battery issues are not rare, especially when a new update rolls out but for the latest iPhones to face the issue would be of concern to the buyers and Apple itself.
iPhone 16 Pro Battery Issues: iOS 18 To Blame?
While the issues have been isolated, the iPhone 16 Pro battery drain is likely the result of the new iOS 18 update that was rolled out when the devices went on sale. New updates tend to have some instability which takes time for the device to adapt to but people spending over a lakh will probably not accept such conditions.
Some of these users are seeing the iPhone 16 Pro Max battery in idle state by 15 to 20 percent in just 3 to 4 hours, which they claim is abysmal compared to the idle battery drain on the iPhone 13 Pro Max model. While other users say that the overall battery life on the iPhone 16 Pro Max gives them 5 to 6 hours of on-screen time which is not the usual standard for the flagship iPhone model. We have independently verified for these concerns and haven’t seen a major drop in the battery life, so it could be limited to some devices.
However, Apple is yet to confirm the issue or acknowledge the reason for the battery drain on the latest models but we’re certain that the upcoming iOS 18.1 update should have some hints or fix for the problem plaguing these iPhone 16 series devices.
Apple has already launched the iPad Mini 7 model with the A17 Pro chipset to bring its Intelligence features with iPadOS but the big M4 MacBook announcement is still awaited, which should happen before the end of October.
