Instagram is experiencing a technical issue, with thousands of users reporting problems sending messages and accessing direct messages (DMs).
Instagram appears to have been hit by a technical snag as thousands of users have flagged that they are unable to send messages and access direct messages (DMs) on the social media platform.
A report by the Hindustan Times citing Downdetector said that the issues began on Tuesday afternoon around 5:14pm.
Downdetector’s figures rely on reports submitted by users, so the actual number of impacted users may differ.
The report said more than 2,000 reports have been submitted, signalling a significant disruption to the Meta-owned photo-sharing platform.
On social media site X, Instagram users shared memes and jokes on the outage. “Me waiting for the message to get delivered,” quipped a user, while sharing a meme of popular comedy show Mr Bean.
“Is @instagram down? Can’t send a message to anyone,” X user AviiiUX posted, sharing a screenshot of the issue. The screenshot showed a the direct message status as Failed to Send.
