Inside Adam Peaty’s love life: Olympic swimmer’s tumultuous relationship history as he…

Olympian swimmer Adam Peaty announced his engagement to Gordon Ramsay‘s 24-year-old daughter, Holly, today.

The couple, who have been dating for three years, shared the news in sweet Instagram posts today, with Adam, 29, praising his fiancée for sticking with him through his ‘lowest times’, following his battle with alcoholism and mental health.

He also added that she embraced the ‘incredible community’ he has found within Christianity and joined his church ‘without question’  ‘came to church with me and joined the incredible community we have there without a question.’

Holly wrote: ‘Thank you for letting the little girl inside of me feel loved, seen and happier than ever. I love you & I cannot wait to be your wife.’

The pair, who have been dating for three years, complemented each other’s posts by including bible verses after Adam revealed religion had saved him from addiction.

While Holly and Adam appear to have found sanctuary in each other and begin a new chapter of their lives together, the Olympic swimmer’s past relationships haven’t necessarily been such smooth sailing.

Holly Ramsay has announced she’s engaged to Adam Peaty today in an Instagram post

In August 2022, Adam split from his girlfriend of three years Eirianedd Munro, with whom he shares son George, who turns three later this month.

The couple had started dating in 2019 after meeting at the University of Loughborough, with Eirianedd falling pregnant not long into their relationship.

When they parted ways, Adam announced the split on Instagram, writing in a post that he was ‘sorry’ for ‘letting down’ his partner and son.

The breakup followed Adam’s 2021 appearance on TV show Strictly Come Dancing, which is famously known for the ‘Strictly Curse’, with multiple contestants splitting from their other halves after taking part.

During his appearance on the dance programme (during the same series as Holly’s sister Tilly), Adam raised eyebrows with his chemistry with pro partner Katya Jones on the dance floor.

On week four of the show, in October, the pair performed a sexy routine to Tango in the Night by Fleetwood Mac, ending their routine by almost kissing.

As the dance came to an end, Adam dipped Katya back and leaned in with his lips close to hers, but the sportsman appeared to lean in closer once again as they stood up before pulling away, leaving viewers believing he initially intended to kiss his partner.

However, despite speculation about the pair on X (formerly Twitter), Adam’s then- girlfriend Eirianedd joked about the steamy routine.

She shared a video on TikTok as she reacted to the dance with a clip of herself pretending to cry alongside the caption: ‘Watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live TV’.

Despite comments about the ‘Strictly Curse’, Adam and  Eirianedd stayed together for almost year.

They announced the split in August last year, with Adam’s full Instagram post reading: ‘Eiri and I have decided to go our separate ways. We have enjoyed a wonderful three years together, 2 of those with our gorgeous son George.

‘Our priority has always been to provide the happiest and healthiest home environment for him, and right now that means ending our romantic relationship.

‘I could not ask for a greater mother for George and I am so grateful to Eiri for her amazing support over the last three years.

‘Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down. My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time so I ask that our privacy is respected and I won’t be saying anything further.’

Eirianedd also shared a statement, with hers posted as an Instagram Story, which read: ‘The last three years have been so, so amazing.

‘Our little family has experienced so much laughter and love and joy. You guys have been such a significant part of that!

‘This next chapter of my life is surely going to be an incredibly difficult one. I would appreciate that people would refrain from commenting, speculating or messaging.

‘I have shared so much of my life, but for now I’m choosing privacy and I hope that you will all respect that.

‘I love and appreciate you all so much and I’m so thankful for all the fun and opportunities you’ve given me.

‘I am going to be taking a break from social media, so goodbye for now. Thank you so much for everything.’

Holly and Adam’s romance was first revealed earlier this summer, when the couple took a loved-up trip to Rome together, and eagerly documented moments from the long weekend for their followers on Instagram.

It was claimed in June that the couple had been seeing each other for around four weeks at this point, with the athlete even spending time at her family home in Rock, Cornwall.

A source told The Sun: ‘Holly is a gorgeous girl and Adam sparked up a conversation on social media. He was liking a lot of her photographs on Instagram and he’s now made a move.

‘They have been seeing each other for around a month and Adam is made up. Holly invited Adam to spend time with her at the house owned by her dad (TV chef) Gordon and mum Tana.

‘It gave them proper alone time and made them realise they wanted to become more serious.’

The couple met when Holly’s sister Tilly, 22,  appeared with Adam on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.

Both Holly and Adam have had struggles with mental health and alcohol addiction.

In April, Adam pulled out of the British Swimming Championships, and said: ‘A good friend of mine said a gold medal is the coldest thing you will ever wear… because you think it will fix all of your problems [and] it will not.’

In December, Holly celebrated two years of sobriety, having previously hit ‘rock bottom’.

She also set up 21 & Over, a podcast for people suffering from anxiety.

The couple shared their engagement news today in sweet Instagram posts as Holly showed off her dazzling yellow diamond engagement ring in snaps from their holiday in Mallorca.

The couple were immediately flooded with congratulatory messages, with Holly’s famous father Gordon Ramsay penning: ‘Congratulations to you both ! We’re over the moon and enjoy this moment ! Welcome to the family❤️’

WHO IS ADAM PEATY?

Peaty is widely regarded as the best breaststroke competitor in the history of the sport

Adam Peaty, one of Team GB‘s biggest names ever since he won gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics, was born in 1994 in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire to parents to Mark and Caroline Peaty.

Despite his sensational swimming skills, at a young age, he had a fear of water.

His grandmother Mavis Williams said in 2016: ‘He used to scream every time he got in the bath. And when his mum used to take him to the pool he used to scream there.

‘Then one day Caroline’s friend took him and it paid off. And he’s been swimming ever since.’

Adam joined Dove Valley Swimming Club at the age of nine, and quickly began to win races and set club records, and at the age of 12, he joined City of Derby Swimming Club after impressing coach Melanie Marshall with his breaststroke.

The sportsman openly admitted that he didn’t start to take his swimming seriously until he was 17, when he saw Craig Benson reach the semi-final of the 100m breast stroke at the London 2012 Olympics.

He told CNN in 2016: ‘It was then I realised I wasn’t taking it seriously enough.’

And Adam’s hard work paid off, as just two years later he won gold in the 100m breaststroke at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, before earning another in the 4x100m relay, and silver in the 50m breaststroke.

In 2016, Adam became a nationwide star when he swam to victory in the 100m breaststroke at the Rio Olympics, along with a silver medal in the 4×100m medley.

The following year, at the World Championships in Budpest, Adam beat his own 100m breaststroke Championship Record, and the following year he won another gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Adam’s sporting success continued in 2021 when he competed at the Tokyo Olympics, and won Team GB their first gold medal of the competition in the 100m breaststroke.

Along with sparking elation from fans and loved ones watching the race unfold back in the UK, Adam also went viral, due to his now-infamous  expletive-laden post-race interview.

He famously declared: ‘It’s about who f****** wants it more… I’m just so f****** relieved! Sorry about the swearing, I’m very emotional.’

Adam was awarded an MBE in the 2017 New Year’s Honours List, before being upgraded to an OBE in 2022 for services to swimming.

In 2021, Adam was also nominated for Sports Personality Of The Year, finishing in third place.

It’s no surprise he endures a gruelling exercise regime to keep himself in top shape for competition, including six days of training per week, and consuming up to 8000 calories a day.

Following last year’s Olympics, Adam revealed he was taking a year-long break from competition.

In May, Adam announced that he would be pulling out of the 2022 World Championships after fracturing a bone in his foot, but surprised sports fans when he returned to competition at the Commonwealth Games.

Despite a shaky start, Adam landed gold in the 50m breaststroke.
