In London For The 2022 NFL Games? Here’s What You Should Do

This month marks the return of the 2022 NFL London Games, held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (the first purpose-built NFL stadium outside of America) and Wembley Stadium, regarded as the home of English football. The next match on the 9 October will see the New York Giants take on Green Bay Packers, and Denver Broncos are up against Jacksonville Jaguars at the end of the month.

If you’re in London for the games, here’s what you should see, do and experience while in town — from historical hotspots to NFL-inspired menus and kicking back at an American bar.

Watch the games on a big screen: If you’ve missed out on tickets to the forthcoming games at Tottenham Hotspurs or Wembley this year and looking to watch it on a big screen, look to Lola’s Underground Casino at London’s landmark venue, The Hippodrome in the heart of the West End.

For starters, entry is free, and a whopping 10-meter video wall with space for over 250 American football fans is sure to create a buzzing atmosphere. A limited edition menu includes loaded nachos, quesadillas and tacos, wraps and burgers, and a special NFL burger. For those up for sharing, there’s also a bucket of Piri garlic, parmesan mayo or Korean-style buffalo wings and a pitcher of ice-cold beer for £26.

Seats are available first-come-first-served, so get to Lola’s early to avoid disappointment.

There are classics, too, in the form of mac ‘n’ cheese, burgers, and cornbread. For the ravenous, be sure to check out the weekend bottomless brunch menu that offers unlimited wings, fries and a choice of either soft or alcoholic drinks.

Held within the private dining room of Berners Tavern, there are two themes to choose from, A Taste of California which will offer insight into the terriors and winemaking process, along with tastings of those involved. There’s also the Louis M Martini Masterclass that’ll present the story of the winery, which began in Napa Valley in 1933, and its infamous Cabernet Sauvignon.

These sessions are priced at £45 per person and run from 6pm – 8pm.

On this tour, you will have the opportunity to explore the famous areas, from the Traitors’ Gate and the Scaffold Site to the Bloody Tower.

Visit The American Bar at The Stafford London: A luxurious bar within The Stafford London hotel, the dark lighting, leather chairs and model airplane ceiling display exude the atmosphere of an old boys’ club. It dons plenty of history, too, as it’s firmly part of the American cocktail bar tradition that rose to popularity in the 1920s and 1930s and is one of the longest-surviving American bars in London.

Here you’ll find an all-day food menu inspired by the bar’s American history and connections, such as sticky buffalo wings and a lobster thermidor sub, along with classic cocktails.

Experience a British pub: There is a host of traditional pubs surrounding both the Wembley and Tottenham Hotspur Stadiums where you can soak up the atmosphere, including The White Horse and The Torch, plus No.8 Tottenham and the Bricklayers arms.

Westwood Sports Pub and Kitchen in West London also serves up Ryan Reynolds’ Aviation Gin (the official gin sponsor of the NFL), and that’s a good enough excuse to partake in a negroni cocktail or two.

Celebrate Oktoberfest: Oktoberfest, the world-famous beer festival, is back, and it’s being celebrated all over the city this month. Expect flowing beer (from authentic Bavarian beers to British ales), plenty of bratwurst sausages, music, dancing, and of course, lederhosens.
