During an interview, he said, “honestly when I was creating season one I didn’t pay any detail that there would be a second season. However, I did have something in mind that if there were to ever be a second season, I had this idea of what story I would tell; I thought it would be the story of Gi-hun turning away from where he was at the end of season one and going back into the games in order to put a stop to the game.”

He also added that the upcoming seasons will be about Gi-hun’s journey, both physical and emotional.
A panel conversation was also held after the screening of the first episode of season two where the show-maker revealed “season 2 is crazy.”
The second season of the dystopian survival thriller is set three years after Gi-hun won the game and he is now determined to put an end to the killings. He participates in the game again with new participants. Lee Jung-jae will be reprising his role as Gi-hun along with Wi Ha-joon, Lee Byung-hun and Gong Yoo. Squid Game season 2 will be released on December 26.
