House Of The Dragon, the hit prequel to Game of Thrones, is set to conclude with its fourth season. During a press conference discussing the Season 2 finale, Ryan Condal, the show’s co-creator and showrunner, confirmed that the series will have a total of four seasons. Writing for Season 3 is already underway, with production slated to begin in early 2025. Although Season 2 recently wrapped up with eight episodes, Condal mentioned that the number of episodes for the next season has yet to be finalized.
George R.R. Martin, the series’ co-creator, had previously suggested that four seasons with ten episodes each would be necessary to fully cover the Dance of the Dragons storyline. While the number of episodes remains uncertain, Condal assured fans that the dramatic storytelling will continue at the same pace.

Condal also addressed the fans’ concerns about the Season 2 finale, explaining that the delay in the Battle of the Gullet was to build anticipation for future episodes. He promised that upcoming seasons will deliver exciting content, hinting at more revelations about the Otto Hightower storyline.
