House of Dragon star Milly Alcock is set to play Supergirl in the DC Universe. In January 2023, while revealing upcoming projects, James Gunn confirmed the production of the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film. Following speculation that Supergirl would make her debut prior to her standalone movie, reports surfaced that DC Studios was already testing actresses for the part.
According to reports, Milly won the highly sought-after role over early contender Emilia Jones (CODA) and Meg Donnelly, the voice actress for DC’s Tomorrowverse Supergirl. Reports suggest that the actress is in discussions for the role of Supergirl, and her debut is scheduled for Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. Following this, Milly’s portrayal of the Woman of Steel will lead to her own standalone movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
James Gunn took to his social media handle and confirmed the news. He wrote, “Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU. Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl.”
Milly took to Instagram to express her excitement about her future in the DCU after James Gunn confirmed her casting as Supergirl.
