Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal, featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, hit theatres on December 1, 2023, sparking ongoing discussions among audiences. In a recent interview, Sandeep shared the impact of a conversation with actor Ranveer Singh following the film’s release.
Speaking in an interview, the filmmaker expressed, “I received the most overwhelming response from Ranveer Singh. I was truly astonished by Ranveer’s reaction. He spoke to me for almost 40 minutes on the phone and sent a lengthy message that I had to read multiple times. I cannot put into words how I felt after reading his message. It was truly enjoyable to read his thoughts. He shared insights about ‘Animal’ that made me realize these elements are also present in the film.”
In a previous interview, Sandeep explained, “I was continuously getting calls from Mumbai to do the remake. First, it was pitched to Ranveer Singh. I wanted to do it with him. But finally, he decided he will not do it because it was too dark for him at that time.”
Ultimately, Shahid Kapoor took on the role, and despite facing criticism for its perceived misogynistic tone, “Kabir Singh” emerged as a massive box office success and becoming the second-highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2019.
