One more bad move and poof, it may all be gone. Well, this is what world champion Max Verstappen’s father believes may be the case with Red Bull Racing, if Christian Horner continues to stay on as the boss.
Horner has had his fair share of controversy recently, as it was only last week when the Red Bull boss was cleared of all his allegations of misconduct with a female employee. News of the same controversy had persistently made headlines all over through the pre-season till now, with Horner still standing in the limelight.
Verstappen’s father Jos believes that this aspect of Horner in essence would ultimately bring about the eventual downfall of the Red Bull team.
In conversation with UK tabloid Daily Mail, Jos exclaimed about the danger that the Red Bull team faces in the long run this season due to the scrutiny Horner brings with his personal off-track scandals.
“There is tension here while he remains in position. The team is in danger of being torn apart. It can’t go on the way it is. It will explode. He is playing the victim, when he is the one causing the problems.”
Jos though applauded Horner for his professional exploits, stating that the team’s collective hunger for success proves to be the harbinger of them all.
“Listen, when I look at how Christian operates within the team, he has been an incredible team boss. So absolutely, from the performance side of things, you can’t even question that. So that’s what I’m also dealing with,” stated Jos.
“I speak to Christian a lot. And also, of course, throughout the weekend here, he’s fully committed to the team. He’s also here for the performance, of course. Probably a little bit distracted.
“But like I said before, we just focus on the performance side of things. And that’s how we all work together.”
Another factor that placed Horner back into the limelight lately was an email from an anonymous sender, purporting to contain evidence submitted to the investigation, was distributed to media and key figures in the sport.
When asked whether he had anything to do with regards to the same anonymous email, Jos denied all claims vehemently.
“That wouldn’t make sense. Why would I do that when Max is doing so well here?,” exclaimed the three-time world champion’s father.
