Veteran actor Gufi Paintal who is best known for his role as Shakuni Mama in Mahabharat (1988) has passed away. The actor was 78 at the time of his death.
A source close to Filmfare has confirmed that Gufi Paintal died on Monday. The actor was reportedly in a critical condition and was admitted to a hospital due to undisclosed health complications.
The source aslo revealed at his cremation will be held at 4 pm on Monday.
Gufi Paintal was best known as a television actor and director. Apart from his memorable stint in Mahabharat which made him a household name, he has also played pivotal roles in movies. His credits include films like Des Pardes, Daava and Dillagi.
Gufi Paintal is survived by his son Harry Paintal.
