Google could have two Pixel 9 Pro models in the lineup this year
Google Pixel 9 series will be launching after the iPhone 16 comes out and this year, it is expected the flagship model could have a new addition.
Google Pixel 9 launch is still a long way out but that doesn’t stop us from getting interesting updates about the upcoming Pixel flagship series. The Pixel 8 series has shown us that Google is ready to give the basics in a refined way and 2024 could be ‘XL’ for the Pixel lineup in the market. That’s right, we might see Google bringing back the Pixel XL moniker this year, except that might be part of the Pixel 9 Pro series.
It is interesting to hear Google add a Pro XL model to the Pixel 9 series, and the latest update comes via multiple leaks recently. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is definitely a mouthful and will compete with the iPhone 16 Pro Max variant that should be coming out later this year as well.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Model Launch In 2024: What We Expect?
The XL part of the Pixel 9 Pro could mean that you get a large 6.7 or 6.8-inch screen which makes it as big as the iPhone Pro Max version. The sales of the Pro Max clearly suggest there is a market out there and people who like big, unwieldy phones, but it is another matter if they would want something of that ilk from Google. The vanilla Pixel 9 is expected to feature a 6-inch display, while the Pixel 9 Pro could get a 6.1-inch screen.
The biggest reason to bring a Pixel 9 Pro XL is not just for the size but also satiate the appetite of people who want more cameras at the back, something that the Pro Max does for the iPhone users.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL also gives Google the room to widen the pricing gap between all three models, which Samsung and Apple have done over many years. Having said that, Google’s pricing strategy has always raised eyebrows, so it is imperative that the Pixel 9 Pro XL doesn’t go high into the price stratosphere which makes it inaccessible for most people.
We’re eager to see if Google does plan to add another member to the Pixel 9 series but in the meanwhile, the company might add a new Pixel A-series phone as soon as next month. Google I/O 2024 is confirmed for May 14 and that’s the platform where we have got the new Pixel phone, and the Pixel 8a could be announced during the keynote in more than a month’s time by the company.
