Game of Thrones star Kit Harington opens up about alcoholism and mental…

English actor Kit Harington gained widespread recognition for his role as Jon Snow on Game of Thrones. However, fame took a toll on his life, leading to mental health struggles and alcoholism, he revealed in a recent episode of a wellness podcast.

Harington disclosed that he discovered his ADHD diagnosis while undergoing rehabilitation for alcoholism in an American facility. Despite attempting another rehab program initially, it was only during his second attempt that he learned about his ADHD. Reflecting on this period, Harington expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, stating, “I realised that my life was hinging on this. Luckily, it was the right place at the right time. I managed to forge a new life from there.”

His first stint in rehab occurred while he was intoxicated, but he left quickly, attempting to handle his struggles independently, which proved unsuccessful over four years. The turning point came between 2018 and 2019 when, during a performance in the play True West, Harington hit rock bottom and decided to seek help.

He recounted his efforts to project an image of sophistication and coolness while dealing with inner fears. The actor also revealed the negative impact of online criticism on his mental well-being, cautioning against the dangers of delving into such comments.
