The upcoming 69th Hyundai Filmfare Awards in 2024, presented by Gujarat Tourism, is poised to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding talents within the Hindi film industry. Ahead of this prestigious event, let’s take a look at when the late Rishi Kapoor won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 53rd Filmfare Awards in 2008.
During the acceptance speech, Rishi expressed his gratitude to his family on winning the coveted Black Lady. He said, “It will be unfair on my part if I don’t mention that a man at the age of 21, gave up his career of law and went to Calcutta (Kolkata) to pursue his dreams and then came to Mumbai to become an actor and thereafter his sons became actors, his grandchildren became actors, his great-grandchildren became actors. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m always indebted to my grandfather, the late Shri Prithviraj Kapoor.”
He further added, “It will be very unfair on my part if I don’t mention my family…my parents — my mother, my father, my brothers, my sisters, my lovely daughter…thank you Riddhima for coming from Delhi, my son Ranbir and last but not the least, ladies and gentlemen, a person, who gave up her career at a very tender age of 21…a flourishing career to marry me, my wife Neetu.”
“Thank you, Neetu, for really supporting me in making my career, thank you for making my home, thank you for looking after my children…most of this actually belongs to you also, thank you,” he concluded.
