Following last year’s overwhelming success of MLB’s Field of Dreams Game and dramatic finish, this year’s 2022 edition returns to the cornfields in Iowa for the Chicago Cubs vs Cincinnati Reds.
The second edition of MLB at the Field of Dreams will feature a multitude of pregame and in-game activities to celebrate baseball. But the nostalgia really hits home again when players from both clubs emerge from the cornfields to the playing field for this year’s contest.
The Redlegs will be wearing pinstripe uniforms inspired from 1919, the year it won its controversial World Series over the White Sox. The Cubs will have solid cream-colored jerseys similar to those worn during their 1929 NL pennant-winning season.
Pregame starts at 6 p.m. ET and is televised on FOX with first pitch between the Reds and Cubs scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET. Joe Davis will call the play-by-play with John Smoltz serving as the analyst.
Joey Votto, who has played his entire 16-year MLB career with the Cincinnati Reds, has a thread in a tweet that signifies the importance of being able to play in this game at the Field of Dreams.

A few stats show the Cubs and Reds rank 19th and 20th in home runs. Both teams expected batting average (xBA) rank in the bottom eight out of 30 MLB clubs.

Last year, the Chicago White Sox outslugged the New York Yankees 9-8 as Tim Anderson hit a two-run homer into the cornfield with one out in the ninth inning to end the “Field of Dreams” game in cinematic fashion.
“The fans came to see a show, and we gave them a show,” Anderson said.
Fox Sports executive vice president of sports sales Seth Winter told the Sports Business Journal that the Field of Dreams was “created to keep fan interest and do something unique and different.”
It did more than that as nearly six million viewers tuned into Major League Baseball’s “Field of Dreams” game in the sport’s largest regular season audience since 2005.
