The actor said that he was looking for a “light-hearted, well-written and relevant show”, and it came his way with Raat Jawaan Hai.
His character navigates the complexities of friendship, career and parenthood, mirroring his own life as a proud father of two.
When Filmfare asked how he balances work and family, he candidly answered, “I don’t actually because I think you can’t.”
He elaborated, “I am not striving for a balance. What I do strive for is when I am at home, I try to spend good, quality time with my kids and when I’m at work, I spend a good time working. That’s the only thing you can control. You can’t really set everything up, right?”
When asked if he took inspiration from his own parenting experiences for his role, he replied, “No, you can’t do that. Otherwise, you will be the same in every show. The only place I took inspiration from was the script and the way it was written. You can throw in your few titbits every now and then because you are also a parent, but you can’t come in thinking, I know everything. The learning has to come from what’s the written word.”
Besides Sobti, Raat Jawaan Hai will also see Anjali Anand and Priya Bapat in lead roles. It will be released on 11th October on Sony Liv.
