Robert Nelson Jr. – an ex-NFL’er and college football star with stints on the New York Jets and Houston Texans among many other teams – was arrested in L.A. last month for allegedly illegally possessing a gun.

The former Arizona State cornerback was arrested in Burbank, California, three days before Christmas, on December 22, according to TMZ Sports

Burbank Police officers were keeping watch on a local mall parking lot at around 9 p.m. when they noticed Nelson’s car parked in a handicap spot without a placard.

And, after looking into the vehicle, they spotted a loaded handgun sitting in plain sight on the floorboard. Officers eventually located Nelson before detaining him.

Nelson was later charged with one count of carrying a loaded firearm on/in person vehicle and was arraigned three days after his arrest on December 26.

His next appearance in court will be in ‘late February’, TMZ Sports further reported.

Nelson stood out for the Arizona State Devils in 2013, earning a first team All-Pac-12 selection as a senior after logging six interceptions.

He signed with the Cleveland Browns after going undrafted a year later. And just like that, Nelson was cut by the team in 2015, before joining the Arizona Cardinals, who waived him after barely months of being on the roster.

He previously played for the Arizona Hotshots, Houston Roughnecks, and St. Louis Battlehawks.

Nelson was also a player for the Montreal Alouettes, of the CFL, during the 2021 season.
