Goals from Evelyne Viens and Nichelle Prince secured the victory for the visitors.

Despite an improved second half, Riise’s side could not find their way past the Canada defence.

Canada got off to a flying start after Viens slotted home following a mistake at the back from Demi Stokes who was dispossessed inside her own box.

England improved from their haphazard start and came close to equalising closing the deficit in the 28th minute courtesy of a Jordan Nobbs free-kick, but she was denied by the fingertips of Stephanie Labbe.

Despite of the introduction of Lucy Bronze and Ellen White in the second half Riise’s side failed to find the back of the net.

Canada got their second on 86 minutes as Nichelle Prince took advantage of a mistake from England goalkeeper Karen Bardsely to make it 2-0.

Riise has only one win under her belt as England manager via a 6-0 win against Northern Ireland, but also saw her side fall to a 3-1 defeat against France.

This was the final game before Riise names her squad in May for this summer’s Tokyo Olympics.
