Chris Rock slammed Will Smith and his wife in a comedy special streamed live across the world a year after being slapped on stage at the Academy Awards, joking that he enjoyed seeing the actor thrashed in his latest film.
The comedian stated that he had been watching the slavery drama Emancipation, just to see Smith “get whooped,” cheering “hit him again” and “you missed a spot.”
Talking about the 2022 Academy Awards incidents, Rock said, “You know what people say, they say, ‘words hurt’ – Anybody that says words hurt has never been punched in the face.”
In the live-streamed show, Rock further stated that Will Smith practises “selective outrage”.
Referring to Pinkett Smith’s marital infidelity, he said that everybody knows that he had nothing to do with it. “She hurt him way more than he hurt me”, he added.
Rock riffed for the majority of the show on a variety of subjects, including the Kardashians, abortion, the British royal family, and his love life. He also explained his decision not to respond when Smith slapped him in his closing remarks.
