From romancing Blake Lively on screen to falling in love with an Octopus, actor Chace Crawford has come a long way from being the quintessential golden boy of TV that everyone loved. His latest on-screen character in the Emmy-award-winning series, The Boys, is anything but conventional.
Playing a crazy superhero in the series, Crawford’s character is among ‘The Seven’, the leading group of superheroes nearly worshiped by the world. As The Seven’s aquatic Supe, The Deep possesses super-strength and the ability to communicate with fish and other water-bound creatures. In the upcoming season, fans can expect Deep to find love again, and live up to Crawford’s lover-boy image! But for now, he’s simply trying to keep his relationship with the octopus Ambrosius a secret from Homelander. “The Deep keeps Ambrosius in the closet, literally in a tank,” Crawford said. “So he can come home, let his hair down, and be real with her. He’s becoming more and more attentive to her. It’s funny when you see these stripped-down moments where he’s himself with her in bed and reading poetry, and he’s comfortable…it was pretty high stakes emotionally, funny, and challenging. It was one of the most fun times I’ve ever had on set.”
The Boys is based on The New York Times best-selling comic of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who also serve as executive producers, and developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke. The series is all set to return with Season 4 on June 13.
