NEW DELHI: Just ahead of the Lok Sabha election, government plans a mega event to showcase the major infrastructure projects executed in the past nine-and-half years and their socio-economic impact. Ministries and departments have been asked to ready some of the models of major projects for display at the event, which would be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
TOI has learnt that the department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT) is heading the plan of Bharat Infrastructure meet, which would be one of the key government programmes before the model code of conduct kicks in.”There will also be focus on displaying the roll out of big roads, rail, power, port, telecom and other projects which have brought down logistics costs, improved movement of man and materials, and impacted people’s lives positively,” said a source. The event would be held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Sources said all departments and ministries will put out the full list of completed projects and There is a possibility of virtual inauguration and foundation stone laying of a record number of infrastructure projects in one go. Government is also likely to unveil its infrastructure development plan till 2047.
