Kennedy
Anurag Kashyap’s Kennedy was selected to the part of the Midnight screening section of the festival. In April, the official account of the Cannes Film Festival took to Twitter and announced the selection of Kennedy. They wrote, “KENNEDY by Anurag KASHYAP #SeanceDeMinuit / #MidnightScreenings #Cannes2023.” The film features Sunny Leone, Rahul Bhatt and Abhilash Thapliyal. The plot of the film revolves around an insomniac former police officer who is thought to be dead long ago but is still operating for the corrupt system and is looking for redemption.
Agra
Agra will have its world premiere at the Directors’ Fortnight section at the film festival. The film is written and directed by Kanu Behl and stars Rahul Roy, Priyanka Bose, Mohit Agarwal, Ruhani Sharma, Vibha Chibber, Sonal Jha, and Aanchal Goswami. The movie explores the sexual relationships inside a family as well as the deep dystopian cracks produced in contemporary India that are quickly condensing into predetermined zones.
Ishanou
This year, Cannes will screen the award-winning film Ishanou by Manipuri filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma. It will have its red-carpet world premiere at Cannes Film Festival 2023’s prestigious Cannes Classic section on May 19, 2023. This is the only Indian film this year to be considered under the Classic Section of the Cannes Film Festival, which celebrates restored versions of classics.
