ByKilian’s Apple Brand On The Rocks And L’Heure Verte Are Based On Two Iconic Cities

Kilian Hennessy, two newest perfumes for his perfume brand Kilian Paris are inspired by New York City and Paris, cities that the perfume creator often finds himself in. Apple Brandy on the Rocks and L’Heure Verte- meaning happy hour- are not only based on cities, they’re also based on nightlife, just in time for a world that’s slowly opening up for night’s out on the town.

When Hennessey does a fragrance, he and his olfactory team does it with the upmost luxury and elegance. Apple Brand on the Rocks is based off of the all-American apple-based liquor, while L’Heure Verte is, according to the house: is a hymn to absinthe, a classic Parisian-liquor. Kilian knows about liquors all too well. He is heir to his family’s renowned cognac making brand, Hennessy. And this isn’t the first time byKilian has created liquor inspired fragrances.

To create Apple Brandy, Kilian worked with perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur eight years ago for the house’s flagship New York City story opening. But Apple Brandy on the Rocks has an added uplift of an ice-cold liquored delight that reflects Kilian’s character, with a blend of bergamot, pineapple, and cardamom. This rebrand on Apple Brandy is more modern in its notes. The fragrance is able to capture the elegance of the “Big Apple,” New York City’s nickname and its legendary nightlife.

The opening notes for L’Heure Verte makes heads turn with the absinthe essence and the earthy tones of vetiver and sandalwood. Kilian collaborated with French perfumer Mathieu Nardin to express the best of Paris in a fragrance. Inspired by early evening with absinthe is served on sugar, but in a glass and as its swirled the liquid turns pastel green. The fragrance has its own hue of green representing a Parisian haze, and according to the house: a Van Gogh painting come to life.
