Buying guide: Which is the best iPad for you

Apple, in the last few years, has swarmed the market regularly with new iPad models across price range. So much so that there’s a good chance you will get an iPad — starting at Rs 29,900 — to suit your needs at a difference of Rs 10,000. While it’s great for buyers to have so many iPad options, it could also end up being a bit confusing. Here we tell you which iPad is the best one for you:

iPad Pro (11-inch, 12.9-inch): The best and most expensive iPad you can buy

Earlier this year, Apple unveiled the all-new iPad Pro alongside the new Magic keyboard. This is undoubtedly the best iPad you can buy as it packs in all the high-end features. The iPad Pro is a capable laptop replacement and Apple claims it is faster than most Windows laptops out there. It has got thin bezels, FaceID, supports Apple Pencil 2 and Magic Keyboard. The catch? Price. It is expensive and if you throw in the Magic Keyboard (starts at Rs 27,900), you are staring at a ‘tablet’ that costs more than an entry-level MacBook Air.

Price starts at: Rs 71,900 (excluding accessories)

Suitable for: Professionals who don’t want to carry a laptop, use Apple Pencil a lot

iPad 10.2-inch (8th generation): The iPad most people should buy

Last month, Apple refreshed its ‘basic’ iPad and packed in a better processor. Featuring a 10.2-inch display, this iPad has A12 Bionic chip which ups the performance from previous-generation iPads. The 10.2-inch iPad is affordable, supports Apple Smart Keyboard and does everything much better than any other tablet in the market.

iPad mini: Small in size, big on performance

Sometimes you don’t want to lug around a big-sized tablet and that’s where the iPad mini comes in. It has a fast processor, weighs just over 300 grams and is ideal for those who want to carry a pocket digital ‘notebook’. The iPad mini supports Apple Pencil as well but no support for a keyboard might be a deal-breaker for some.

iPad Air (2020): Powerful and thin

The most powerful iPad Apple has made so far. Yes, the iPad Air features A14 Bionic chip that makes it more powerful than the iPad Pro as well. Apple has changed the design and added a hue of colours as well to the iPad Air. It supports the Magic Keyboard as well. It will be available sometime later this month.
