Brit slams anyone who chooses to move to Australia after several mates relocated: ‘You’ll ruin your life’
- Fred Asquith, from London, has had several friends move to Australia
- The Brit is ‘sick’ of losing his friends and criticised their decision
An English man has slammed Brits who choose to uproot their lives and move to Australia for ‘no good reason’.
Fred Asquith, from London, has had several friends ‘abandon’ him and move across the world in search of a better life.
The comedian admitted he does not understand the hype about Down Under – he planned on moving to Melbourne for his ‘gap year’ but ended up flying back to London within three months.
Fred claimed that it was nearly impossible to stay in touch with people who had moved abroad, and said his friends who now live in Australia are ‘not relevant’ to him.
‘The world is indeed big, but it’s too big to move to the other side of it and expect me to reply to your “how’s your day” messages from the future,’ he said.

Fred has echoed the same sentiments about romantic relationships – where previously a partner moved to Dubai without any warning
The Brit posted a video explaining his point of view on the situation.
‘Why do people move to Australia and just f**king ruin everything?’ he asked.
‘You can have a really good mate, and then they’ll tell you they’re moving. You’ve built a relationship over here [in England] – and then they suddenly want to go to Australia.’

Another ‘confusing’ aspect was the lack of established roots his friends have in Australia before making the big move.
‘They’ll tell you they don’t actually know anyone there, will have to get a whole new job and life and house. And they’ve also got to move all of their stuff overseas, thousands of miles away – but they really ‘have’ to do it for some reason.’
Fred questioned if his friends really ‘had’ to move and ‘break up’ the entire life they had made.
‘F**king hell, I’ll see you never,’ he said, frustrated.
He said he wasn’t convinced by the promises to keep in touch despite the distance and time difference.
‘I don’t care that I can call you and you’ll pick up within a second, and we’ll have perfectly synced audio.
‘When you’re in Australia, you’re just not relevant to me anymore. It’s not happening. I’m not texting you about the new crime documentary on Netflix.
‘I’m not going to be texting you about the Premier League because you’re probably watching the A-League or Aussie Rules,’ he added.

Many agreed with Fred’s plight and shared experiences of their own.
‘Interest in Australia is my biggest dating app red flag,’ a woman said.
‘I had a friend who moved to Australia and I don’t know her anymore,’ a second added.
‘I know an absolutely unholy number of people in Australia,’ a man said. ‘And no, we don’t speak anymore.’
‘I moved to Australia and it’s not the utopia you think it is,’ another revealed. ‘I hated it and moved back to England two years later.’
