BLACKPINK’s Jisoo and Park Jung Min in Negotiations for Lead Roles in…


On Thursday, a Korean broadcast revealed that Park Jung Min and Jisoo are set to take on lead roles in the upcoming series Influenza (literal title).

Reacting to the news, a representative from SEM Company, the agency of Park Jung Min said, “It is one of the projects that he is reviewing to star in.”

Jisoo’s agency YG Entertainment similarly responded, “She has received an offer for Influenza and is reviewing the offer.”

Set against the backdrop of a high-rise air defence unit in Seoul, Influenza chronicles the tale of soldier Jae Yoon and his girlfriend Young Joo. Young Joo, who has recently been informed of their breakup, and Jae Yoon strive to reunite amidst a horde of zombies, navigating their way through the challenges of their harrowing journey.

Bringing together a talented team, the series will feature the combined efforts of scriptwriter Han Ji Won, known for her work on Parasite, director Yoon Sung Hyun, acclaimed for Bleak Night and Time to Hunt, as well as writer Ji Ho Jin.

Reportedly, Park Jung Min will take on the character of Jae Yoon, a man who joins the military at the age of 26 after initially attempting to pursue an alternative service path through a defence industry job. Plagued by uncertainties about his future, he becomes overly preoccupied with his girlfriend, leading to their breakup. As he confronts a world overrun by zombies, he transforms from his former state of fragility and self-doubt, gradually evolving into a pivotal leader of a squad engaged in a fierce battle against the zombie menace.

According to reports, Jisoo is set to portray the character of Young Joo, a newcomer to the workforce who eagerly awaits her boyfriend’s return from military service. Struggling with her emotions as Jae Yoon fails to comprehend her feelings, she is suddenly confronted with the news of their breakup. Determined to reunite with her boyfriend, she embarks on a journey only to find herself in a world overrun by zombies. Throughout her fight for survival, Young Joo undergoes a transformative process, evolving into a more resilient and empowered individual.
