On 14th September, rape and murder of two minor Dalit girls shocked the entire nation. This brutal crime occurred outside a village in the Nighasan area of Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. The police has arrested six accused involved in this dastardly crime and as per Lakhimpur Kheri Superintendent of Police (SP) Sanjiv Suman, “(accused) Junaid and Sohail have confessed to strangulating the girls after raping them.”
Western Media peddle ‘caste-angle’
However, the case served as fodder for the international left leaning media to portray a maligned image of India in general, and Hindus in specific. BBC, Reuters, The Washington Post, Guardian and the list goes on.

The coverage of western media in the Lakhimpur Kheri case is utterly distorted and has exposed the intent of these outlets and their tenacity to push their agenda in a subtle manner. The workforce at these organisations began their vulture journalism and published some weird unnecessary lines in their report.
Many reports from the Western media went out to print a caste angle in the story and blamed the Hindu caste system for the crime, while comfortably ignoring the fact that the ones accused of committing this heinous crime were from the Muslim community. The reports have nowhere mentioned the name or the alibis of the ones arrested.
Western Media’s reports reeks of Hindu-phobia
Now, let’s unveil one by one, how these western media outlets peddled their Hinduphobic agenda in the garb of reporting.
BBC, the propaganda emitter of London, on its spree of disseminating misinformation published that the girls were targeted as they were Dalits and blamed the entire incident on the existence of Hindu hierarchy rather than the culprits.
The report read, “The girls, both below 18, belonged to the Dalit caste, at the bottom of a deeply discriminatory Hindu hierarchy. However, the same report made no mention of the accused.
Reuters being aligned with the same narrative as that of BBC’s deliberately opted to exclude the names of the arrested accused in their articles. Along with that, Reuters too pushed the divided society connotation of Indian society based on caste and class as it mentioned, “follow an ancient caste system.”

The Washington Post also mentioned Dalits (the community from which the girl belonged) as “lowest rung of India’s rigid caste hierarchy.” WaPo deliberately made a reference to untouchability, malpractices that persisted in India under colonial rule much before the independence.
To add on, The Guardian report referred to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath as a ‘hardline Hindu nationalist monk’ who is failing to protect women. The Guardian and their ‘illiterate’ journalists must have not watched the press conference done by the Uttar Pradesh Police, in which they revealed about the prompt arrest of the accused.
For many it may sound new, but the Western Media has always been guilty of maligning India in general and Hindus in specific. There have been multiple incidences when these publication, that claim of speaking Truth to Power, have cherry picked issues, ran fake-news against India and has hurt the civilisational ethos of India.
