Ayushmann Khurrana is enjoying the triumph of his recent movie Dream Girl 2 in the cinema. The movie features Ananya Panday in prominent roles.
Ayushmann discussed the uncertain state of the box office in a post-pandemic era during an interview with a leading news portal. He emphasised the importance of selecting content that resonates with one’s inner self. The actor disclosed that he has been opting for diverse projects such as Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Doctor G, and An Action Hero.
In addition, he highlighted that these movies were highly praised by critics. He believed that some conspiracy theories suggested that only movies with grandiose visual effects, movies suitable for families, and movie sequels would be successful because people prefer to opt for less risky options. Nevertheless, he expressed satisfaction that the situation had changed.
Expanding on his statement, Ayushmann also mentioned that in his usual straightforward manner, he shared that the successes of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke starring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan, as well as Satyaprem Ki Katha starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani, brought him a great sense of relief. He explained that these mid-budget films performed well, which was a pleasant change since most of his films fall into that category.
The actor mentioned that he hasn’t acted in a big-budget movie yet. He prefers working on low or mid-budget films that have high-quality content. This gives him a lot of confidence and motivation. Ayushmann expressed his satisfaction with Dream Girl 2 as it met all the necessary criteria.
Despite being known for his unconventional films, Ayushmann Khurrana gained popularity among the masses with his movie Dream Girl. He mentioned that while most of his films perform well in multiplexes, Dream Girl managed to make a mark in smaller cities and towns.
During the filming of Dream Girl 2 in Mathura, Ayushmann realised that the movie was immensely popular in the city, even more so than his National Award-winning film Andhadhun which they were not familiar with. Hence, the decision to make a sequel to Dream Girl was a natural one for the filmmakers.
