Aston Martin Reveals New F1-Inspired DBX707 With ‘Podium Green’ Paint

Aston Martin is having a pretty great 2023 Formula One season, with two-time World Champion Fernando Alonso notching up four podium places in the first five races.

To celebrate the Spaniard’s success, Aston Martin has announced a special edition of its DBX707, the company’s flagship SUV that is also used by Formula One as one of the sport’s official medical cars.

The special edition is finished in ‘Podium Green’ paint and features a carbon fiber bodykit said to be inspired by the design of the F1 team’s race cars. There are also lime green details, as also seen on the f1 racers, plus green brake calibers and a ‘Q by Aston Martin’ badge, since the car is the work of Q, the carmaker’s bespoke vehicle division. There’s more carbon fiber inside, along with more unique badges and lime green stitching.

The car is mechanically the same as the standard DBX707, which is itself a more powerful version of the regular DBX, which I reviewed back in 2021. That means this is a full-size SUV powered by an AMG-sourced, twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine producing 697 horsepower – which is equal to 707 PS, hence the name. The car can sprint to 60 mph in a supercar-like 3.1 seconds, passes the 100 mph barrier in 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 193 mph. It can dispatch a quarter-mile in just 11.5 seconds at 119 mph.

Called the AMR23 Edition, after the team’s AMR23 race car, the special edition Aston SUV is available to order now, although the price has not been announced. The regular DBX707 starts at around $240,000, itself a circa-$50,000 premium over the standard DBX.

Alex Long, head of product and market strategy at Aston Martin, said: “The AMR23 Edition takes DBX707 to a new level of intensity, creating a stand-out ultra-luxury SUV with incredible road presence. It is a real pleasure to offer this special edition in celebration of the recent successes of our Formula One team.”

For Aston F1 fans looking to complete the collection, the company also sells the Vantage F1 Edition, which is inspired by the Formula One safety car.
