Assembly Elections LIVE Updates: Neither Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) nor Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT) will hold rallies at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on November 17, as both parties had applied for permission on the same day.
The poll body in a release had said it has allowed the MNS to hold its rally, but party sources said it was not possible to make necessary arrangements at this stage.
On Friday, Raj Thackeray, citing time constraints, said his party will instead campaign in Mumbai and Thane. Shiv Sena (UBT) will hold a rally at the MMRDA ground in Bandra-Kurla Complex on the same day.
Voting for Maharashtra’s 288-member assembly seats will take place on November 20, with votes to be counted on November 23.
Meanwhile, in Jharkhand, the first phase of polling concluded on November 13 in 43 constituencies, with the second phase scheduled for November 20, coinciding with Maharashtra’s election day. According to Election Commission of India (ECI) data, voter turnout among women in the first phase was 69.04%, surpassing both male turnout (64.27%) and the overall turnout (66.65%).
