Arjun Kapoor reveals he has Hashimoto’s disease


Arjun Kapoor is basking in the success of his recently released film Singham Again. He has received much love and appreciation for playing the menacing villain Danger Lanka. Amid the praises, the actor opened up about his struggles. He revealed that he had been suffering from Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid gland. 

Speaking about his mental challenges, Arjun shared, “You will have moments of self-doubt in any profession and you fight through it. When films don’t pan out, those moments become days, then months and then years. You start doubting yourself, the negative always sounds louder.” He continues, “Moreover, being a fat kid creates a lot of mental trauma for years and you don’t realize that. Your equation with food and taking care of yourself. I just knew something wasn’t working.” 

He also shared that he stopped enjoying and watching films and had to seek therapy to get over it. Arjun also expressed that he was diagnosed with mild depression at one point and therapy helped him process his emotions. The actor then revealed that he was also diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease.

He added, “I haven’t always opened up about it, but I also have Hashimoto’s disease. It’s almost like I can take a flight and gain weight because the body goes in distress. That happened to be when I was 30 and I defied it.”
