Arbaaz Khan talks about the screenwriting duo Salim-Javed’s fallout

Arbaaz Khan has shared that his father, Salim Khan, and Javed Akhtar (the screenwriting duo Salim-Javed) have been reconnecting and talking frequently over the phone. Salim-Javed, who wrote some of the most iconic Hindi films of the 1970s such as Sholay and Deewar, had a falling out in the early 1980s.

However, it seems that time has healed old wounds as the two have developed a stronger bond.

Arbaaz remembered their unpleasant disagreement and shared that currently they have a much improved relationship. In a recent interview with an entertainment portal, Arbaaz mentioned that as children, they never imagined that Javed saab and his father would ever have a cordial conversation. However, when his father was unwell, Javed saab contacted him to inquire about his health and even requested a date to visit him at home.

He further said, “Javed saab came home and met him and spent two hours with him. It all seems so wonderful. Time is a great healer. People change, people forget and forgive, and they move on. And they make much stronger bonds. They communicate very often now. They speak over the phone very often and more so because dad is a little older than Javed saab so Javed saab keeps asking about dad’s wellbeing. Dad is much better now.”

According to Arbaaz, although Salim-Javed have parted ways professionally, their families have always maintained a friendly relationship. He mentioned that whenever the children or they themselves have met Javed saab, they have been courteous and amicable towards each other. Arbaaz also stated that there has never been any hostility, resentment or any attempt to compete with each other. He believes that time has healed any past wounds.
