Apple’s Big AI Features Might Not Come To All iPhone 15 Or 16 Users: Here’s The Reason

Last Updated:

Apple is likely offer its premium AI features for the Pro and Pro Max models.

Apple will stick to its premium-only strategy with some of the important AI features but expect the new Siri to roll out for most versions.

Apple is gearing up to showcase its AI ambitions and we all will get a teaser to these plans at the WWDC 2024 this week. AI is already at the top of everyone’s mind and the industry is moving at a fast pace with the help of OpenAI, Microsoft and Google.

Apple clearly feels that it has a lot to offer in the market, especially for its iPhone users. iOS 18 is being tipped to be its biggest update in years, with Siri getting an AI overhaul to finally make it reliable and useful for millions.

However, Apple’s AI focus might be tilted towards the premium devices as it looks to continue with its supposed premiumisation of the iPhone lineup in the market. We have already seen the company differentiate the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models in many aspects. The display quality and tech is varied, the hardware under the hood is old-gen and new-gen A-series chipset on the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro models, respectively.

Apple’s Premium-Only AI Strategy

And that is going to be a big reason why we expect Apple to keep most of the AI bells and whistles exclusive to the A17 Pro-powered iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.

Which brings us to the main issue for Apple users, primarily those who expect the company to offer these AI features for all its devices. Reports claim that most of the iOS 18 AI features will be developed with the iPhone 16 series in mind, and even then, you might not get all of them available for the vanilla iPhone 16 version.

The company feels that the higher-tier iPhone Pros are the main source of its revenues in the market, while the iPhone 14/15 or the upcoming 16 helping it attract new customers in markets like India, where the demand for iPhones with their special offers is gaining momentum every quarter.

Once again, Apple is throwing the gauntlet to its user base and encouraging them to go big on their next iPhone if they really want to get a taste of its premium and different AI experience that Tim Cook has been talking about in recent weeks.
