The first AirTag version came out four years back and Apple really to bring a new AirTag model with few features.
Apple is ready to upgrade its AirTags with the launch of the AirTags 2 model highly expected next year. The report from Bloomberg confirms the development of the new tracker is in full swing and Apple could bring the new version in early 2025. The AirTags 2 will look similar to its predecessor and will be Apple’s first big upgrade for the tracker four years since its introduction.
AirTags 2 Launch In 2025: What To Expect
The report talks about multiple upgrades that people can expect with the AirTags 2 and most of them will be features related to the privacy of the device. The AirTags second version will be able to support a longer range, and for that Apple will pack in a newer chip that will be more powerful than the original AirTag.
The company is also expected to make it a lot harder to track and for that it could bring new privacy features to the device. We have read news about the AirTags being used to stalk people and even though the company has worked out a way to fix the issue, the new AirTag 2 should completely take care of the concerns. The new AirTag 2 could see a price bump because of these upgrades and that would be hardly surprising for an Apple product.
The report doesn’t say when the AirTag 2 could be announced but Apple is going big with its 2025 launch roadmap, at least going by the recent updates, and we might see the AirTag successor launch along with the iPhone SE or even the iPhone 17 series later next year.
AirTags have shown their value over the last four years but even for Apple that is a big gap between its next version. While the report says the AirTag 2 will get no design changes, we are hoping Apple proves that wrong and gives us something refreshing in the palm.
