Anushka Sharma Believes that Theatre-Watching Experience Will Never be…

With theatres being on a shut down mode and unlikely to open before October or year-end, OTT platforms are the only place where we will get to see new content and films. Anushka Sharma who’s producing some great work for OTT platforms spoke to a daily recently and spoke about what’s the new mode of entertainment and what’s the future of movie-watching in a theatre

Anushka Sharma says that drawing conclusions on the basis of the current scenario is not the right thing to do. “Let’s be very honest, these are extraordinary circumstances that we are all experiencing. I think, to judge anything on the basis of this time would probably not be valid,” says the actress.

Anushka Sharma points out rightly that the experience of watching movies on the big screen and watching the visuals in a theatre can never be replaced. “I feel that theatrical releases are here to stay in India because we, as a society and a culture, enjoy celebrating.” She further adds by saying, “We have so many festivals. We like to come together and have an experience. I think movies give you that. When you go into a theatre and the lights go off and the big screen comes on, I think that’s an experience you cannot substitute and that’s why I feel like you will always have theatrical releases.”

She also adds that OTT platforms and theatres will parallely exist. The entertainment provided on both the mediums will have an audience. “Everyone will become aware of the kind of things that you can create for theatre and the kind of things you can create for these platforms. I think that sort of understanding writers and producers will start to have… They already do… I think that is something that demarcation will be quite clear and apparent,” says the actress.
