Gautam Adani, the richest man in Asia, now owns NDTV, yes, the same satellite channel that spent all of its resources to bring down one man, Prime Minister Narendra Modi. All the propaganda and the man doing all this for the channel was none other than Ravish Kumar. Kumar seems to be unaware of the famous quote, “Love your work, not your company.”
Radhika and Prannoy Roy resign
On 30th November, a letter was shared on the micro-blogging platform Twitter, and the “breaking news” spread within no time. NDTV owners Radhika and Prannoy Roy had resigned from the board of directors of RRPR Holding Pvt. Ltd., which is the promoter group of NDTV.
But why did the “power couple” who once challenged the state’s monopoly resign? It was because Gautam Adani had bought the 29.18 percent share that RRPR Holdings had in NDTV.
The, statement said, the RRPRH has appointed Sudipta Bhattacharya, Sanjay Pugalia, and Senthil Sinniah Chengalvarayan as new directors on the board with immediate effect.

Ravish Kumar resigns
Now, what happened next must not be questioned. Ravish Kumar, the face of NDTV, resigned with immediate effect. Kumar was working as the Senior Executive Editor of NDTV India, the Hindi channel of the NDTV group.
The resignation was disclosed in an internal email addressed to NDTV employees by Suparna Singh, the president of the NDTV group. An anchor’s or say editor’s resignation after the change of ownership speaks volumes about the propaganda the channel indulged in.

Ravish Kumar takes the “Barkha route.”
All of us know Barkha Dutt, however, for no good reason. After her stint with TV ended, Barkha was seen roaming around with a mojo setup on scooties, and she was praised for doing “rural journalism.” However, only Barkha could understand what it meant to leave her AC van and roam around on scooties.
Ravish Kumar has taken the same YouTube route. Kumar, the face of NDTV, has now been reduced to a YouTube channel that he recently created. After he resigned from the channel following Adani’s takeover, Kumar posted a long, rambling video on his channel. He began with the introduction he often used on his prime time show, “Namaskar, main Ravish Kumar,” as if it were a prime time show rather than a post-resignation rant.
Kumar continued with his same nagging about the state of journalism in India under the Modi government, but did not say even a word about his ex-employer.
He claimed that he was very emotional and is refraining from talking about NDTV as he might not be able to be neutral. With this, he almost gave an insight about his career: that in his hatred for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he could not remain neutral. Although the video was full of melodrama, one thing is clear: Ravish Kumar will continue with his propaganda, even if he has to do it through his YouTube channel.

From inception to takeover – The journey of NDTV
It was the year 1984 when a couple from Kolkata decided to challenge the state’s monopoly over the news industry, as until then only Doordarshan was allowed to broadcast news. Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy launched New Delhi Television (NDTV), first as a contractor for Doordarshan and then as a 24×7 channel in partnership with Star India. Later, it became independent in 2003, only to be taken over by businessman Gautam Adani in less than 20 years.

Why was NDTV’s takeover celebrated?
NDTV is guilty of many things be it giving out locations of civilians during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks or the Kargil war, or be it providing a platform to Taliban or making a hero out of Yasin Malik. NDTV has done it, and the takeover of the channel or the resignation of its star anchor Ravish Kumar deserves no sympathy and is just a reminder of how hypocritical, anti-national, and anti-Hindu they have been.
